easter for mr. and mrs. b.

i love easter.
there is just something about it. so new, fresh and welcoming.
what a beautiful day to remember our savior and welcome in spring, new life.

so the mr. and i dressed up in our sunday best and headed to church. where we ran around with our little 3 yr olds for the last time (heartbroken about this). we listened to great speakers and remembered the sacrifice of our savior.

after church we rushed home and i made mr. take some pictures with me. we quickly sent off a note to our families and started cooking.

a bunch of our chicago friends got together for a big easter dinner. we ditched the ham and potatoes for cafe rio. something a bit more casual. i think it was a good trade. spence helped me make the rice and dressing (shout out to aunt erin for the incredible cafe rio dressing recipe). it was hilarious, the two of us in the kitchen, attempting two new recipes. good news is that they both turned out great.

we spent the rest of the night eating way too much and laughing with our friends. though we missed being home with our families we loved being with our little chicago family. we are so grateful for good friends!
i love 40% off sales at the loft. this whole outfit cost me about $40. thanks to my cute husband who is going to starve this month so i could get my easter outfit. he loves me that much.
i sure love this man of mine! he is one good looking boy!
our little easter basket! as you can tell i was a little excited!
so med school budget meant the easter basket was a little different this year. we decided to do a "us" basket and share. we loaded up on some after shave (for him) and some lotion (for her) and other small goodies. of course i had to throw in the mint milanos. our personal favorite treat!
i made cupcakes for a dessert for our dinner. spence even helped with the little flags.
i had big plans for dessert but we made it back to chicago a little later on saturday than i expected. by the time we got home i was too tired so we decided cupcakes would have to do. i made my favorite german chocolate cupcakes with vanilla whipped frosting. the mr. and i aren't huge fans of the german chocolate frosting but there is just something about the german chocolate cake. so soft and yummy.
thanks to some sprinkles and toothpick flags i think they turned out kinda cute.

all in all we had a great easter. i am so in love with the weather. it is FINALLY warming up here in chicago. i think walks along the lake shore are back in season!

  1. 40% off? That skirt is my favorite. I LOVE it. And it's finally warming up here, too. But..it's going to rain today. I mean, it is spring. I just want warmth :) You guys are cute!
